hello,

I have a bipper tepee 1.3 diesel automatic EGC transmission

the handbook tells you never to leave the car in neutral unlike any other automatics I've driven WHY ?

Handbook also says it can be started in 1st or reverse gears ? always thought you had to start in neutral

Any information would be much appreciated

I'm only surmising from my experience of satans box in PSA cars.

There is no Park selection on these boxes, they are after all a manual box that changes gear for you, so for safety you should ideally select first or reverse when you leave the vehicle, just as you would (or should) with the manual version.

Its been a while since i drove one (well actually i drive a lorry equipped with satans box for work and that needs to be in neutral to start) in a car/van, last time i did i'm sure you had to put it in neutral before the starter would engage, sounds a bit dodgy TBH being able to start in gear, yes in theory you probably have to be pressing the footbrake before the starter will engage but still...
