Peugeot 207 CC - Engine overheating. - paulylondon

My Peugeot 207cc has an intermittent overheating problem. After about a 20 minute warm up on a motorway, the fan comes on and the temp gauge heads up to the boiling point. After about a 1to 2 hour cooling period. Then it`s fine for a week or two of regular trips. The garage computer could`nt find the fault. (sticking thermostat maybe)

Is it actually overheating or reading incorrectly?Thermostats on these are a problem along with the coolant temp sensors.The stat is part of a complete plastic housing.

When i stopped and let the pressure off from the filler cap, it was boiling and fan running. So i`d say certainly overheating. Another guy said waterpump. But would that be an intermittent fault ? Cheers.

I would think the first port of call would be the thermostat.
