Renault Laguna II - Heater fan has stopped working - drift100
Hi I have a 2004 Laguna and the heater fan has stopped working, it is the climate control one with air con. Previously to the fan stopping working the heater was always warm even when turned down to number 16 but would be hot at number 26. I have pulled all fuses from drivers side fuse box and under the bonnet and all seem ok have also removed and replace all the relays under the bonnet but still no joy. Does anybody have any ideas please as I can't afford to pay the extortionate Renault prices but don't mind getting tools out and getting my hands dirty ha, cheers.

I vaguely recall this might be something to do with a small fan that gets clogged with fluff (which causes the fault you've described). The fan sits in a housing in or around the rear view mirror I believe.

I'm sure someone else will be along with details of the thread which details the fault and the cure.

The small fan you describe is the aspirator fan that draws air over the in car temp sensor.A problem with this will not cause failure of the main heater blower motor. You will need to access the heater blower motor located up behind the glove box.I suspect the fault is either with the fan motor itself or the electronic speed regulator.Could also be a burnt wiring connector to the fan unit.

Hi thanks for info I have looked at the little fan behind the interior mirror was a bit dusty but seemed to work fine. I have removed the inner glove box now to have a look . I've also removed the pollen filter which don't seem too bad at mo but will change it. Somebody has told me that it will probably be the heater resistor pack which I am trying to locate at mo but not having much luck. I have removed the plastic panel down on the gear tunnel in passenger footwell but still can't see it am I looking in the wrong place?

Not 100% sure of the set up on this model, but on many French cars, the electronic speed regulator is built into the base of the blower motor plastic housing.A clue may be the number of wires connected to the fan motor unit.
