i bought seconf hand peugeot 307 1.6 hdi the other week, it stopped starting and just clicked inside.

breakdown came out, checked battery etc and said it ws probably starter motor.

went in garage, they had it a couple of days and it just started working, said they thought it might be damp. so had mot and service and thought all was good.

now its just failed and done the same this morning. it rained heavy last night. under the bonnet at the back left the material under the back is hanging lose and is soaking wet.

does this sound like just a damp issue? is it fixable? what do i need to do? how can i stop it from happening again.

The usual problem is a duff battery or poor battery connections, if it isn't that its most likely the starter motor.

ive taken it to an electric specialist, they think its the starter motor. they say it depends on the position it stops as to whether it starts. they have checked electrics and they are working and live is going to starter motor, if they hit the starter motor with a hammer to change the position it then starts fine.

hopefully they are right! cheers
