bmw e91 330d - bmw e91 radio and CD tend to 'blip' for 10 mins - carnut1980

My BMW business CD (standard) tends to 'blip' when listening to a CD, for about 2 secs, every 20 secs, for 10 mins or so, then is fine. Same with the radio, only it blips for half a sec, every 20 secs, for 10 mins or so of listening, then is fine.

Before i buy another unit, what checks should i perform?

Why does it clear up, and why does it effect both CD and radio? as this would rule out the laser.

Is the radio digital,if so it may be a memory problem as digital is stored in memory before you hear it, then played back, if parts of the digital signal are missing as in a broadcast being blocked for a short time there wont be music it stops restarts

Cd will do the same as radio if its faulty memory, MP3 players do it as well

I may be wrong but sounds like it

if radio is analogue, best type, has to be a different problem and will need service engineer

if by digital, you mean has an LCD display, then yes!

Radios in some Peugeot/Citroens do that when not correctly coded to the car. Don't know if this has any relevance in your case but thought it was worth mentioning.
