mobility vehicle and tow bars - AllGee

Hello to all. Does anyone have anything to add to the subject of fitting a tow bar to a mobility converted vehicle? The type where the floor is lowered.

An additional question, has anybody come across rust/corrosion problems, due to the conversion?

Thanks to all for your attention to this, A

You probably can't do it as it's likely to use the same mounting points the lift conversion is attached to. Since 1997, towbars have to be Type-Approved which means they can't be modified.

In any case, the towbar is likely to obstruct the lowered access.

Contact the converter directly, they've probably been asked the question before.

Thanks for your reply RT. I think you're right, on all counts. The obstruction issue, for my case, doesn't matter I'm not needing the ramp. Tow bars needing to be type approved since 1997 I didn't know about. Although I have only fitted approved kits. A
