Iveco Daily 70c 18 Nightmare Gear box - Reporting faults - LidsterMason

We run a 7.5 tonnes Iveco Daily, and to be honest its been a nightmare.

Bought it new from main dealer and same dealer has carried out all maintenance and Vosa inspections from new. Vehicle is mainly driven by one driver 4.5 days pert week 60,000 miles per year. Driver is very dilligent and careful. average payload is 1.8 tonnes vehicle can carry 3.25 tonnes. Vehicle comes home MT.

From new driver has reported verbally a gearbox issue difficulty selecting gears 1 to 2. Unfortunately he has not documented this but has mentioned it at et every inspection, on the first occassion the dealers road rtested it and found nothing but every other occasion it was not documented or actioned.

2 months out of warranty major Gear box failure, Iveco say its out of warranty bill for £4500 which I am disputing plus £600 for hire vehicle whilst repair was made.

The dealer says that we are in breach of our undertakings to VOSA because the fault was not documented. Does anyone think we have a leg to stand on?

If it's got a 3 year warranty (which I think they have), and you've done 180,000 miles in that 3 years (you say it does 60k a year), then it could be reasonably said that the gearbox has managed an acceptable lifetime.

I'll put it another way : how long is 'acceptable' for a gearbox to last ?
