Was stationary and moved gear lever into tiptonic position, something seems to have failed in lever operation, lever became stuck in tip position and all the red gear positions appear together on the dash display. I managed to get the lever back to the normal drive neutral park position.

Tried disconnecting the battery to see if the dash display would correct itself but NO

Car is driving normal in drive and paddleshift is working but display is showing all positions at once and does not change. Engine management light is also on and off intermittant

I removed the gear stick gator and managed to retrieve a small piece of white plastic which as obviously broken off from somewhere near the top of the lever. Is there a sensor which details where the lever is?

As anyone else had this problem and is the part replaceable if diagnosed, can the dash electronics be re-set.

Gearbox serviced with fluid change on time and current mileage is 60k
