You shouldn't really tow any automatic car unless the drive wheels are off the ground or if it's a 4x4 a low loader would be more appropriate.

Sorry red that wrong. Does Honda supply a tow bar for that vehicle? What does the manual say? Also I've heard it's not wise to tow anything heavy with a cvt gearbox.

Are you sure your car has a CVT gearbox? I thought the CRV has a traditional 5 speed auto. In which case you may need to fit a transmission fluid cooler if for major hauling, otherwise it should be fine.
