Mercedes C200 Classic (V reg) - Flat Battery - misterbee

Talk about one step forward, two back, i think i must have upset his lordship upstairs.

Having removed the flat battery for a proper charge indoors i noted the boot wasnt closing properly as i assumed no power so i just, temporarily put some hazard tape on it for partial closure, lo and behold the damn thing closed.

I cant get beck in , i have the FOB which has the skeleton key pull out .

Is there a method to use this key as it doesnt seem to go in the lock , anymore help would be very much appreciated. I have a picture of the FOB and skeleton key which i would happily send on.

Fairly common problem with most MB models. The manual boot lock access via the key seizes up through non use and lack of lube maintenance. The best way forward is to open the bonnet and remove the fuse box lid ,find a fuse listed as a permanent supply power and use a set of jump leads from the battery to power the fuse.Clip the earth lead to any engine metal bracket.Alternatively, put the plus lead to the main terminal of the alternator ,if there is access. You should then be able to use the key button boot release ,or the one on the console.

Hi there, I will explore these options , my email mrbhammonds@hotmail.com

If you have any other aids , maybe a diagram , even a pencilled one, detailing the positive crocodile clip to a fuse and the negative to a bracket on the chassis would be a great help..thanks for pointing me in this direction. The car is at work but i will have another look tomorrow. I know i can see the alternator , cant remember if the positive connector is visible , if i go with that option where does the neg. lead go ? (Lets hope its not the alternator thats duff!)
