Citreon C5 hpi petrol - Car wont maintain engine speed - hammerwack

My C5 hpi 2ltr petrol will start and run on tick over all day, however when the car is reved to 3000 revs plus it will drops down after about ten seconds to 2000 revs and wont rev again, turn the car off and immediately start it and car will rev up again as before and same situation occurs, can you help please.

My diesel will not rev very high in neutral. I believe it is to stop engine self- destruction and limit damage to cam belt etc. It will rev higher when driving along in gear.

Is yours OK actually on the road or does it stop revving at 3000 ?

If it is only occuring in neutral maybe nothing to worry about.

Could be a fuel pressure issue.You need to be able to monitor the fuel pressure under the fail conditon to see if it drops below limits.Find a techie that has some diag equipt that will do this.
