Seems to be complete nonse to me. Fuels is not every ones biggest expense as in most case the devaluation of the car is much higher. Lost interest after that!

It doesn't say fuel is everyone's biggest expense, it aims the figures at the average driver and £80,000 over 63 years isn't that unreasonable.

Devaluation is going to be more significant if you buy new cars, but barely a factor if you practice bangernomics. Again it is an average figure.

Sounds cheap to me - £3000 per annum all in? Fantastic value compared with all other modes of motorised transport, most of which isn't there where you want it and doesn't go where you eventually want to be.

It would be even cheaper if we didn't subsidise those who travel with very small amounts of baggage on anachronistic rail coaches - often able to claim their ticket costs from someone else - and that someone else is often HMG - who gets it back from the motorist.....
