Nissan Juke 2013 1.6 Tekna CVT - When is it best to use Eco and Normal - Shelagh

Please can anyone advise me when its best to use ECO and when to use Normal Drive mode..

I ask because on a long run, 144 miles, mostly motorway in Eco using cruse control the car only managed 36.1mpg ! not a happy owner here as just bought the car. my speed did not go above 72 and was steady when cruse control was not engaged.

Had it all reset at the garage and now it managing 35.59 with mixed driving in normal. Have the same long drive tomorrow 4th March and not sure whether to choose Eco or Normal Drive Mode?

Its an old type petrol engine in a biggish heavy body with the aerodynamics of a brick saddled to an inneficient CVT gearbox. In truth mid 30's is about what I would expect.

As to which is best for economy only you can experiement and find the real answer to that. But the fact one of the modes is labeled "ECO" should give you a clue.

As skidpan has said, that sounds about right.

If you go here :

you'll see the mpg that other Juke owners have reported. Looking at that, yours looks abut right.
