Have you changed the fuel filter ?

Another possibility might be the tank breather being blocked - basically, a vacuum forms in the tank, and you can't 'suck' the fuel against it.

One simple thing I would try is the next time the car stops unscrew the fuel filler cap, you might have too large a vacuum in the fuel tank.
