Not really a renewed push - it's an LPG supplier making out how good it is. They would though wouldn't they?

We know gordonbennett is a big fan and I can see the attraction if you have a thirsty petrol car which you intend to keep long enough to recoup the installation costs. Any other users on here?

Up till Sep 12 I was using it in my Note and buying it every other day. Up till April 2014 for our 2.5 Xtrail as well. The Note replaced with a Hybrid and the XT with a Diesel. I also ran a Cit X Pic on it with no problems at all for a year till I traded it.

Plus points? Cheap to run, emissions yada yada. No noticeable power loss ( I don't do F1 racing or Rallying just normal motoring) , pretty decent economy on LPG etc.

Bad points - small toroidal tanks - limited range. Not enough fill up points that A are set up to sell it, B have some to sell in the tanks C have pumps that are not 'out of order', D I won't drive out of my way to find a fill up. Lack of information about whether your car needs additional cylinder lubricant eg Flashlube (google it don't ask me) Nissans as it turns out really really do MB I'm told don't. Cost of conversion. Having the system serviced annually over and above vehicle servicing. Garages getting 'R- See' about working on cars with Gas especially Warranty related. Cannot travel on Eurothingy(as I was told) and finally two whamming gobsmacking thousand quid plus bills for Valve seat regression - see Flashlube (installed too late as it turned out). Virtually no Road Tax breaks and some insurers can be ignorant.

Would I do it again? With the right car you bet. Old big MB probably.

Today the Yaris Hybrid and the TD QQ give me a little better mpg with far less fuss. But who knows the future...

no no its awful stuff, smelly, lose your boot space, forever going wrong, converted cars won't pull your hat off, servicing costs a fortune, not a viable alternative fuel, and if too many people jump on the bandwagon dick turpin is bound to seek his ransom..:-)

Seriously though, it's not for everyone, but with careful vehicle and conversion centre (and suitable en route filling points) research it can be an excellent move, especially if you maintain your cars well.
