Suzuki Swift 2012 - Battery Disconnection - Doc

I am going to remove the battery for charging,

Can I expect any problems with the ECU memory?

I realise that the radio will need re-coding.

Before you do that Doc, have you tried any of the CTEK or, the similar but 1/3rd the price, smart chargers from Lidl/Aldi (when they have them) and just plug in with battery still connected in situ?

I don't suppose you'll get any problems but i'm of the opinion that modern cars' electronics do not always take well to battery removal/refit, so try my utmost to let the car keep 'live' continually...i connect a jump pack temporarily during battery renewal too.

Unfortuneately I am not able to use a charger in situ, as the car is in a remote lock up.

If you do have to disconnect the battery,then the only advice I would give is that you will need to drive the car after the battery is refitted so that the engine control unit can re-learn and adapt your drive cycle.Not a big problem,but you may find the engine stalls and does not idle correctly until this has been done.

What about asking if one of your mates has a good spare battery that you could leave linked with jump leads to the Suzi whilst it's own one is being charged for a few days.

Car started OK. Shows you can't trust a voltmeter!
