The Acura (posh Honda in America) has just brought out a 8-speed DCT with a torque converter - which may end up as the best of all worlds.

My head's spinning trying to keep up, not as it matters because i won't be buying any auto other than a TC.

I've never like the idea of a motorbike clutch in a car so a torque converter is a must for me as well - I always thought that CVT was even worse until I tried the Subaru CVT, which does have a torque converter, it was brilliant to drive so just need to wait to see it's reliablity. Since Subaru is part-owned by Toyota the TC/CVT transmission may appear there (perhaps it already has?)
