Ford Focus - Garage investigation charge - hoyak

Hi,

I have a faulty stereo on my Ford Focus. I have found a Ford Technical Bulletin and I am 99% sure it covers my fault.(Stereo not turning on after battery replacement).

I am booked in to the main Ford dealership but they have advised I will need to pay a £65 charge. They have advised this charge will be refunded if replaced under warranty. Is this normal? I am worried I will have difficulty getting the £65.00 back.. ie, why would they charge this upfront when if it is a warranty claim there is no need for the charge...?

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks,

How old is the car?

If the warranty has expired on the whole car or stereo the dealer will charge you up front pending getting the warranty settled with Ford. Even if there is a Technical Bulletin it still does not mean your car is covered.

You could always try another Ford dealer.
