Do the caards on digital cameras deteriorate with age & use?.

I often get a "not IPEG compatible message when I try to view the photo, also the photo is wiped. The photos are normal family photos or views of countryside or buildings.

Any info appreciated

They don't wear out as such but SD cards can only be written to and from a certain number of times.

Are you saying when you try to view the image it says it's not compatible and then gets wiped?

Th

Thank you alan for your prompt reply.

What happens is that I view the photoe on the camera & any good ones I print

on the printer, I then load them onto the computer & then erase them on the camera.

On some subsequent use when trying to view it a blank screen appears with a large question mark & the IPEG message.

I think from your previous message this is the problem.

Is it in the printers software that is showing the error message? Or is it the Windows picture viewer?

Eventually, over time, I've found the file system on cards can become corrupted. Especially if you fill it up with pics, cut/paste them onto computer, and repeat that process.

I tend to reformat cards whenever I take data off them now. Since I started doing that, I haven't had a single problem - though that could just as readily be good fortune, rather than good practice.
