Citroen Saxo - fault code p1205... but car only has 4 cylinders! - profjekyll

Hii

Have 02 plate 1.5 diesel saxo with bosch pump. When starting in the cold it runs ok for a little while, until just getting warmed up then goes flat and stalls, engine management light comes on reporting p1205 - Injector Circuit Open / Shorted - Cylinder #5.

Does anyone know what this means on my car? I thought it only had 4 cylinders?!

It has a bosch ecu...presumably there is some logic in the program that creates this fault code under certain circumstances... but what the devil is it?

Thank you in advance...

Citroen Saxo - fault code p1205... but car only has 4 cylinders! - The-Mechanic

Could possibly be a faulty electronic advance solenoid on the pump or a wiring fault to it from the wiring harness ?

As you say, the engine only has 4 cylinders so this code is a bit of a mystery. The only thing I can think is if the solenoid, in Citroen's excellent logic, is designated as a 5th injector ?

There seem to be some new solenoids for sale on Flea-Bay which have sold several units, so might be a popular part that fails ?

Good luck with it.

A cheap scanner will not report accurate info as this car is not eobd compatible.Find a techie with more complex diagnostic equipt.

Agree with elekie&a/c doctor. Lexia diagnostic is the only way to go.
