Mercedes CLK - Car radio code "Wait" - Brill {P}

I've tried reconnecting the radio/CD player, I have the code but as I misdialed it it now says 'wait'.

I know this is normal, the manual says it will clear and come up with 'code' after it's been left on for a while, however it's just displaying 'wait' all the time.

Is there a way to sort this out, as I'm unable to enter the code. I've been driving around for a few days like this, but wonder if I have to leave it parked with the ignition on for ages?

Just to be clear, I do now have the correct code, but the unit is stuck on'wait'.

Probably need to leave the radio on for at least an hour.This can be done without the ignition on,just power on the radio on/off switch.Leave it on until display shows code.Some merc radio are 4 digit codes and some are 5 ,so make sure the number is entered correctly.
