Mazda 6 - Evans Halshaw - Milepost

Hi,

I recently bought a Mazda from Evans Halshaw (Mansfield) who told me (whilst they were trying to sell to me) that they had a no quibble 3 month guarantee and that absolutely everything was covered.

Anyway, there is a problem with the drivers seat, it even moved on the test drive but, I assumed that it had not been locked in position properly after cleaning.

It turns out that this is a major issue and, that it will cost getting on for £800 to replace the seat base. After messing me around and them making me promises which never materialised I have decided to take them to small claims court. I have just had the paperwork that tells me they are defending the claim. I can't imagine how unless they are going to blatantly lie about what they told me.

I was wondering if anyone else has bought from them recently and if they were told the same as me?

Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SOGA gives you 6 months in which you cab claim for sale of faulty goods.

It will cost them so just go ahead with small claims court as it is well within the limits...upfront costs are under £50 - they will settle I am sure as the court date gets nearer.

You went to a car showroom AND BELIEVED WHAT THE SALESMAN TOLD YOU?

Wanders off, shaking head in disbelief...............................

Thank you for posting this. A few years ago I was thinking of getting a car from them but then read a few unfavourable reviews of them. Recently I wondered if I was being unfair - now I will think about your experience.

Previous post is amusing but, in reality, seeing a car that appears fine and would like to buy the vast majority (in my opinion) of people would accept the guarantee description.

In any case there are statutory obligations that they must abide by. Good Luck.

I'd call it "selling a vehicle in dangerous condition" definately an MOT failure.

They'll chicken out if it was a recent sale and demonstably the seat moves.

A work colleague bought a car from this dealership. When he took it in for a service and was waiting for a lift he saw a member of staff give another customer the keys to his car for them to use as a courtesy car.

He was not best pleased.

Unless we haven't heard the full story, one really does wonder what sort of idiot in a suit decided to defend the claim instead of just getting on and repairing the seat, thereby keeping the customer happy and generating goodwill.

Instead the customer has, quite justifiably, posted on here and so far over 150 people have seen the post and received a poor impression of the dealer (who has branches all over the country)..
