i would like to do my own oil changes and understand that the oil light willneed to be reset and also the ecu.

is there a service tool available for this model.

I'm pretty sure you can just do it with the controls on the steering wheel.

Is this the new shape 6?

Some of our company 6's on 13 plates are apparently having new Diesel engines fitted so i'm told, but i haven't yet found out what the problems are.

Might be prudent to stay with dealer servicing during warranty maybe?

GB - I'm sure we can count on you to let us know if you do find out anything more. Mazda would have us believe that the problems with their diesel engines are in the past - and the motoring press seem to believe them.

No stamped service book by VAT registered dealer = no warranty

2013 car would have 3yr warranty

If you are doing an oil change more often than the hand book requires you do not need to reset annual/12K service warning.

its just that i prefer to do a intermediate oil change after 6500 miles.I suppose its because i have been in the engineering trade all my life and know the importance of regular oil changes

i have been informed from a reliable source that apart from reseting the service indicator that the ECU has to be reset otherwise the engine will go into limp mode.

Agreed, and so would i, but around 5k max for me.

If you simply drain and refil the engine oil, and renew the oil filter, all without turning the ignition on, then how is the car, or anyone else to know.

Couldn't you do the intermediate changes on the qt, keep schtum as far as the dealer goes, but keep receipts for when you come to sell the car in due course.

thats exactly what i have done and i have used mobile 1 oil with ESP protection £51 at halfords £39 ebay hope this helps
