Seat Ibiza 1.6 se 2010 - UPDATE..."buzzing" noise from 7 spd dsg - monkeyboy63

Car has been back to Seat main dealer today. This time I took it,instead of my daughter. Miraculously, the technician could hear the noise, straight from the off!

After having it in the workshop for an hour,it seems that it is one of the transmission bearings( as diagnosed by an independent garage, last week).

The service manager came and sat with me,explaining that their ex-VW tech had heard this noise on a Golf, previously.

He quite clearly stated that the transmission is fine, apart from that,& that it is not liable to break down. He had suggested turning the radio up,or forking out £3,750 for a new dsg box. Changing the box would definately cure the noise, but he reckons we would get the same problem again,in about 20k miles. (I had suggested ear defenders, which he seemed to find amusing). I could have suggested a "bad boy" bass unit to fill up the boot, but she usually has that filled with shoes.

Anyways, driving the car is no longer a pleasurable experience,so I wonder if they would give my daughter a good trade-in for a newer model?......I doubt it.

I almost forgot. Upon returning home,my daughter recieved an apologetic phone call from the dealer. They had forgotten to put the engine undershield back in,& asked if she,or myself could "pop" in,so they can re-fit it. My daughter explained that we are some 20 odd miles away,so they are sending someone to our home address.... Things can only get better, surely?

Yes- things can only get better- find another dealer ASAP - there is no other answer that could make any sense.

I've now spoken to Seat UK, Customer service. They agree that this is not good,& have requested that the car is booked into a Seat dealer of our choice, where they will investigate this problem. They will appoint a "Case manager" to liase with the chosen garage.
