Vauxhall Astra - If you hit another car does it damage the brakes? - Johnman102

Sorry I have two questions that I would like to ask:

A month ago,I reversed at the speed of 1-7 mph and mistakenly thought there was no car behind me so a last minute check on the interior mirror and before I know it I had to Sudden brake hard as there was actually a car parked behind and it was too late. We both got out to check the bumper and no visible damage.

I am concerned if it can damage the brakes/ABS or braking system because that I had to sudden/harsh brake while my foot was still pressing the brake pedal and had hit the other car.

Can sudden/Harsh braking damage the brakes/ABS?

Today I had to perform a sudden hard brake due to a driver pulling out when I was doing 30mph ish on a downhill so I had to press the brakes quite hard. I am worried if it can damage the brakes/Abs or braking system

Brakes are designed to stop the car at whatever speed you are travelling. You cannot damage them by normal usage, including sudden or harsh braking.

Because i tend to not drive on my brakes they don't get used hard normally, and they can get a bit glazed up if only applied gently continually so every once in a while i'll deliberately stop quickly (but not actually come to rest to prevent friction material transfer) from high speed to heat the discs right up.

Wishful thinking? once they've cooled down again the brakes always feel better for this.
