By ' STOP' lamp i'm assuming this is the STOP message that apears on the dash & not a brake light problem.

The dash STOP lamp will be activated by several things including low coolant level, low oil pressure, high engine temperature, low hydraulic fluid level, low hydraulic pressure.

There may be others, look in the owners manual if you have it.

Does the cars suspension rise up as normal.

Maybee try excercising the suspension by selecting maximum then back to normal.

If you have checked the oil & coolant levels, have no oil pressure warning, normal engine temperature & the suspension in normal you may well be ok to drive it as it could just be an electrical fault.

The STOP light is a master caution and IIRC it will come on for other critical faults as well as those related to the LHM level. It's usually accompanied by one of the other lights such as oil pressure or coolant if that is the problem.

Are you sure your oil and coolant levels are OK and that engine temperature is staying in normal parameters (80-110 degrees engine warm).

In terms of LHM level worth checking wiring to LHM reservoir and that the 'mushroom' in the level indicator on reservoir is moving correctly - they can stick. Also, don't forget the correct method of checking the LHM level involves putting ride height to max.

EDIT: Cross posted with Dieselnut.
