VW Golf MK4 110bhp TDi - Possible air in fuel system TDi Golf - Roy Brown

Hi all,

I let my Golf TDi MK4 TDi 110bhp (AFN code I think) run out of diesel and it hasnt been the same since. I topped it up with fuel and the car struggled to start but it did eventually. However now when the accerlator is pressed down the revs go up very slowly??

I have tried to get air out of the system using an extractor pump but it still dosent feel like it did before so can only assume there is still some air in the system. Would the remaining air clear if I took it out for a drive?

I was wondering if anyone ever had any similar issues and what they done to cure the problem?

All help appreciated, thanks!!!

Thanks for that! I have changed the fuel filter today and the car is back to normal again.

However it is a bit harder to start now from hot and cold, any ideas?

Cheers

Thanks again for the reply. Just added some Millers Eco Max so hopefully that should do it.

Cheers

Well I did about 10 mile in the car today and it is running fine, however it is way down on power and is still hard to start

This problem turned out to be an injector pump issue. Replaced the pump and its 100% again.
