Hi, I have got my toyota yaris hybrid plate 2012 a couple of months ago. Every morning when I started my car to go to work, there is always a harsh sound from the brake when I lifted my foot from it as if the car is trying so hard to move. This only happens in the morning generally when it hasn't been driven for many hours or left overnight. A couple of times , it actually didn't move on the first time I started my car. I had to restart it again and gave it sometime before it actually moved and creating the sound. I don't know if this is actually normal for hybrid car? It feels like the car needs a warm up before going off the road. I spoke to a couple of people with auris hybrid but was told didn't experience similar problem but toyota told me this is normal. I am just wondering if this is normal or anything I could do at all? Many thanks.

Have an Auris HSD - kept in a garage - press start button - put in D gear - usually engine doesn't start until I've rolled forward on battery for 3/4 metres - then engine fires and goes into warm-up sequence - by the time I've closed garage door, warm-up sequence complete - then drive off in D gear but it stops in battery mode until I reach 25 mph approx.

Can't help with harsh sound from brake

We have a 2013 Yaris Hybrid, and when pulling away the brakes can creak if you don't come off the brake pedal completely, which happens when I have to turn the car around in our drive.

It doesn't seem to be a problem, maybe it's more noticeable because the engine isn't running at this point.

The hybrid system does make a lot of odd noises though, sometimes slightly disconcerting! After switching off there is strange whirring and other noises, but I think all is perfectly normal. Ours has just returned from its first service, including Hybrid health check, and all is fine!

I have a 62 Yaris HSD. My guess is that your rear brake disks are rusty. The handbrake is rusting on. Happens to me when I put it away wet. No other issues and mine has done 34000 now.

Hi, Ethan thank you. So, does that mean I have to change both the brake disc and the handbrake? When you said this happened to you before and now done 34000, did you change the brakes then? My service center which is the nearest and where I bought my car refused to have a look at it and kept telling me this is normal, which is frustating.
