Renault Modus 1.5 dCi 2009 - Dashboard Vibration on Diesel - Trevor P

This vehicle runs well and has only done 24,000 miles. It has developed a bad vibration, transmitted from the engine, on the left half of the dashboard, noticeable at city driving speeds. Curiously, dropping down the glove box cover lessens the noise! Clearly the resonant frequency of the dashboard is altered by doing this. The cover and attachment are both firm. As it is not safe to drive with it open, what remedy could I try as a permanent fix? Thank you.

I'm not familier with the engine mounting arrangement for your car but the PSA's have an engine stabiliser mounted on the right hand side at the top of the engine, failure of the rubbers on these give a similar effect.

Have a look at the engine in the area nearest to where the vibration is occuring and see if there is a mounting there or something is touching the bulkhead.
