Good god man.

Do you not realise that Hondas and Toyotas NEVER break down. And, on the off chance that they do, then even if they are 14 years old, that the wonderful cuddly dealers will fix them for free ?

Or so the Honda/Totota love-ins on here would have you believe, anyway.

Of course Hondas and Toyotas break down.
Just not three minutes outside of the warranty
period, like a lot of the German junk out there.

Hondas and Toyotas DO break down. The main difference between Honda, Toyota and other far eastern manufacturere is that when you have a problem with their car, they look favourably at fixing it. Unlike some European and US brands that say things like it's 2 days out of warranty as the breath in through their teeth!

All car makers have problems, what counts is the way they deal with those problems.

As I've said, all the Honda/Toyota love-ins claim that the wonderful cuddly dealers will take care of everything - or so the love-ins would have us all believe.

The reality would appear to be rather different, or the OP wouldn't be in business

I am not so dumb as to believe that any manufacturer will support cars for ever.. To suggest that anyone on this forum thinks so or tries to persuade others so is contrary to what I have read.

Such sniping might suggest either bitterness or jealousy on your choice of employer or car: it does no-one any credit.

You just need to look at long term reliability statistics to see which makers consistently make relaible cars. And when they do get it wrong - which they do - support their customers.

Equally you just need to look at the longest threads in Technical - both in terms of posts made and the durastion of the threads - to see how Ford and Mazda support their diesel engine customers - or rather don't.

Toyota's own Yaris forums are boringly quiet whilst their RAV4 forums have long articles on the 2.2 diesel engine problems - acknowledged by a 7 year warranty and replacement engines foc.

I agree with all of your post Madf, indeed the childish sniping is starting to spoil this forum, again.

I can't speak for Honda, but i can speak for my local Toyota dealer, who couldn't have been more helpful when the nicknamed 'death rattle' started to sound off on our out of warranty Hilux...electronic injectors on the 3 litre were proving troublesome...soon as the injector rattles started they had the car straight in, lent us a free courtesy car, and the vehicle was ready two days later fully valetted complete with a new set of injectors, not a mention about paying for this, just an apology that we had been troubled.

The engine in question is also on the 7 year 100 odd thousand miles special warranty...obviously if its been abused and neglected they won't want to play ball, but MDSH isn't a must on these extensions either, so long as reasonable care has been taken and the vehicle not abused they will stand by it.

Its not the fact they stand by their product, its the courtesy and customer care that makes the difference, failing to protect their customer and stand by their product by other makers and their dealers speaks volumes on these pages.

The truth about dealers is just as in life - there are good ones & bad ones. It's true that on the whole the far eastern dealers do try harder "mostly" if you have a young vehicle - if your vehicle is older than 7 or 8 years however they really are not interested, and that also does not excuse the way they charge for their spares often 200% more than they are worth!

I have often found huge differences between pricing & service between UK & USA recently I bought an air flow sensor for my 2003 Civic Hybrid from the USA on the net, it cost me @ £100INCLUDING SHIPPING. Honda's price is £281 !!!!!!

A replacement Hybrid battery pack for my car from Honda with a 1 year warranty is over £2000 !!!!!!! WITHOUT LABOUR CHARGE!!!!

Honda's & Toyota's do indeed breakdown but not as often as other manufacturers vehicles.
