Has anybody seen the same fault as observed on my Philips CCR600 radio as fitted to my Vectra. When I turn on the ignition switch the radio comes on at whichever channel I was listening to when I last drove. I then turn the key to crank the engine and the radio goes back to 87.5MHz. This doesn't happen every time but seems to be when the weather is a little colder. I haven't tried it on MW or LW, or disconnecting the link to the ignition switch (option in the radio set-up) as yet.
Could it be related to a low battery voltage on starting?
Does anyone have a contact for Philips car audio?

The reverting to 87MHz on engine start up appears to be a "common fault" with all the Philips stereo's. Mine only seems to do it in the winter months - especially if I've only used the car for a short journey. I wouldn't worry about it. My previous '93 Cavalier Philips stereo (SC303) even did it.

THe Rover/Philips radio in my old 414 used to do exactly this.

Don't know if you've got the owner's manual - I have, but there's nothing in there about this. I'd suggest your battery is knackered enough that the radio is losing all power and losing its presets.
If you need a manual, let me know, mine's a spare.

Thanks for the offer of the manual - I have a copy in the car but that isn't much use in this case. The radio keeps the presets but just has a case of amnesia every now and then. I had a similar problem on the old Cavalier but that would go back to MW - EEPROM failure apparently.
I would hope that the battery is still okay as the car is only just 20 months old! The indicator on the Vauxhall battery is no longer showing the green colour so it could be that the battery needs a good charge. The local main dealer reckoned that the battery was still good as the car starts without problem. The two could be related so I'll try charging the battery over the weekend.

You should be able to buy one through a Vauxhall dealer for not a lot of money. And then of course there's always ebay.
Failing that, if you visit the Vauxhall website, sign up to "My Vauxhall" (which is free), you can then download certain manuals from there for free. Having looked, the CCR600 isn't listed, but one of the other manuals listed will cover most of the features of your CCR600. Anything that isn't, then post back and I'll see if I can help as being a Vauxhall owner for some 20 yrs now, I know most of the stereo features inside out.

Funnily enough I've just bought a Vectra with a CCR600 in it, which I immediately replaced with something more MP3 friendly, so there's probably a relevant audio manual I could scan in the pile of paperwork I got with it.
The operation of all the VX stereos I've had over the last 10 years has been pretty much the same anyway, e.g. press number button for >2 secs. to memorise current station, press 'AS' until it beeps to replace all you presets with current ststions , press UML for >5 secs. to change speed sensitive volume etc. etc.

I don't know if this relates to your problem but I have recently resolved a long standing fault on my daughters T reg Vectra. Her battery kept losing it's charge. When I checked the system out I found that the car had a 150ma drain. This is 0.15 amps or about 1.8 watts of leakage current, like having a small bulb illuminated 24/7. I finally traced this leakage to the radio/ cd player. When I unplugged this the leakage dropped to nearly zero.
Now here is the important bit. It appears that the wiring for the ISO plug used to plug the radio into is different on Vauxhalls than any other car.
The radio should have two feeds. One is a permanent feed, this is for maintaining any presets, the other is a switched feed that is only live when the ignition is on. On the Vauxhall pin configuration these two are reversed. The result is that the presets are lost but more importantly the radio is on all the time, even when you are fast asleep in bed.
Reversing these two wires resolved the problem and dropped the battery drain to 20ma/0.02amps/0.24watts.
Whilst trying to resolve the problem I did not find any mention of this anomaly on any website or discussion forum but I wanted to pass it on for any one else.

It's common practice to swap the red and yellow wires (ie, red to yellow, and yellow to red) when fitting an aftermarket stereo. Did someone have an aftermarket stereo fitted prior to your daughter owning the car, but then refit the factory fit stereo but forget to swap the wires back, red to red, and yellow to yellow?

I think you'll find VW also fit into that category as well.
