Ford Focus - Bad starting Zetec - DRC406

Our 57 plate 1.6 petrol Zetec Focus has long standing starting problem when both hot or cold but it is worse when hot, it turns over but will not fire.

Searching the internet these 4 causes seem common:

Fuel pump.
Engine temp sensor.
Crank position sensor.
UCU fault, might need a software update.

Have talked to a local garage the cheapest and easiest option seem to change both sensor and see it cures the fault.

What do you think?

I would make a list, starting with the cheapest parts first, that may be the cause of your problem.I would then systematically replace each part until the problem is fixed, ending with the most expensive part,ie the engine.Realistically,a better option would be to take it to a specialist who is able to monitor what is going on with the engine control system and make an analysis of the fault. It may be nothing to do with the parts listed above. The local garage must be associated with the parts darts team.
