Looks like I've got to renew the timing chain on one of these. I'm really disappointed as it's only done 48K miles and had its oil changed every year and never done more than 6K between changes.
I'm waiting for a code reader to confirm my diagnosis before I start pulling it apart.
I've got hold of a Haynes and there's quite a procedure requiring a 3bar air line pressure applied to the variable valve timing in order to lock it during dismantling.
I haven't got a compressor!
Has anyone any experience of this job, if so is this air line prcedure necessary, or is there any kind of 'work round'.
