No "clunk" when AC button pressed, no load on engine, fuse and relay changed. light comes on the AC switch

can low gas pressure stop compressor from running?

Yes, no gas and a pressure switch stops the compressor from working.

It's very common for air conditioning to not work when you switch it on for the first time after a long period of non use through the winter months. The gas will never condense to a liquid which then allows the seals to dry out, resulting in lost gas and a non functioning system. The answer is simple. Use the system frequently through the winter, or keep it left switched on all year round. For you though a trip to the garage for a re-gas is the first step.

So ive gotta regas it to find out if the pressure switch will operate to operate the AC pump and hope the gas isnt leaking....

The regas people MUST check for leaks in the system before they're allowed to put gas in again, if not they're not following correct procedure.
