BMW 3 Series 320 Ci Se coupe in gold 93 K miles - A 14 year old BMW - finlay

A neighbour has a gold BMW 3 series manual 320 Ci Se 93 K miles he says he is too old to drive. Is this car a "classic" yet?

Will it become of "interest" >>>>

I like the colour / the engine (a 6 pot) I have no idea of value >>>> the car has not gote leather seats.

What is it worth?

What problems can occur with such cars?

Is it worth buying to keep or do modern electrics etc stop it being a viable "classic"

Bmw 3 series e46 model is probably one of the best cars ever made by Bmw.Certainly more reliable than current models. These give very little trouble and there are plenty of bmw specialists out there that would love to look after this car.As to value,it depends on condition of body work.Check the wing edges where the front and rear bumpers meet the body work.Mechanically very strong.Colour not the best and no leather, however £1500 -2k would be a starting point.

Agreed, especially as this the coupe, one of the prettiest cars the company ever made, SE would usually have leather, it was ES that came without.

Condition is everything, if its as good as hoped then maintain it well, but most importantly thoroughly rustproof it.

There is no money to be made on this type of car, you will not turn a profit, it will cost more to keep in pristine condition than you could possibly hope to recoup over the years, but that isn't what these cars are about, its enjoying proper motoring without computerised everything, with zero depreciation being the icing on the cake.

Part of the pleasure of owning cars like this keeping them fettled mostly yourself, servicing, braking system etc are simple end enjoyable to do, but as ElekDoc says you will need a good make specialist indy now and again.

Most of all its to be enjoyed and cared for, if the old chap thinks its not going to the ''right'' home he may not sell it, i wouldn't part with my old Benz to the buyer giving me the wrong vibes no matter how many zeros he put on the offer.
