When I had a Landy and up here there was a spate of such thefts,. I spoke to my Garage Mech and he showed me a lead I could easily take off my engine that disabled and was hard to sort out if not known.

During WW2 there was an offence, 'failing to secure a motor vehicle'. Removing the rotor arm was a common way of complying as even lockable doors were not that common.

Sounds like we're back to needing to fit hidden switches as the distributors are usually under an engine cover these days.
