Ford Mk 4 Mondeo Edge 2009 - Mondeo ESP - Peter

I am about to buy one of the above and am curious to find out what the ESP is and what purpose does the ON/OFF switch above the radio have.

ESP stands for Electronic Stability Programme-should be described in driver's manual-but uses a combination of the throttle and brakes to control skidding and wheelspin-it's going to be legally required soon,just like anti-lock brakes.

You would only turn it off when trying to set off on snow or ice otherwise its on all the time.
