VW Polo - Parking fine - eryri

I must have overstayed my welcome at a Home Bargain car park in a very sleepy town in N Wales and three weeks later I have been issues with an £85 fine! (kindly reduced to £50 if I pay within the next 2 weeks!) I cannot understend how or why they (Private Eye) can charge that sum for half an hour. Can I follow the advise given on this site and offer them £10 as they have no legal right to demand such a sum. Please advise.

No need to panic, take on board the advice and act as soon as possible. Parking Eye (not private) are a nasty bunch, they are slowly getting their just desserts, but at the moment if you don't pay they will serve Court papers. They lose in court on a weekly basis, but you are better acting now to avoid it.

It is not a fine - it is an invoice requesting a payment! Everything else is as per deveyjp's post.
