Ford C-MAX 1.6 Zetec petrol 2006 - Car revs remain high when declutching - h2o

Hello

When changing gear my revs briefly rise when declutching. If I'm hardly using any throttle then its a lot less pronounced but under heavy acceleration its very noticeable.

It's almost the same symptoms of a sticky throttle cable (but as car has no throtlle cable it's obviously not that) except revs seem to behave as expected when revving in neutral and there are no other issues with idling. I'm sure it's not clutch either as car is still responsive under acceleration.

I'd appreciate any advice.
