A very good idea-a better one would be for planning authorities, solicitors and surveyors to insist on property boundaries to be properly marked in the first place so that a house buyer knows exactly where the boundary of the property is.
I currently live in France and boundaries here are marked with orange discs called "bornes". It's usual to see them at the side of the road, at the edge of boundaries, even on new shopping centre developments, separating whose space is whose.
There are severe penalties in French law- prison even- for interfering with these markers.
