Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - DPF on Zafira tourer and S-Max - xAlanx

Hi all,

I currently have a 2007 Mazda 5 2.0 diesel which I am planning on replacing with either a Zafira tourer or Ford S-Max.

One thing I have never liked about my Mazda is the fact that it dumps un-burnt fuel from failed DPF regens into the oil sump. Does anyone know if the Zafira tourer and S-Max also do the same? I found a copy of the Zafira tourer manual on line and the section about the dip stick doesnt mention anything about increasing levels.

There is a little voice in my head that keeps saying 'forget the diesel and DPF, go for a petrol'.

Both Vx and Ford use post-injection of diesel to help with DPF regeneration. However, they don't seem to have the same issues as Mazda.

I had a Mondeo IV 2.0TDCI for three and a half years from new, with zero DPF issues despite my daily commute of just over 3 miles each way. There were no extra markings etc. on the dipstick
