Citroen C5 Estate - MY2004 - Estate car with longest roof load capability - mijo

Hi, My trusty Citroen C5 Estate (MY2004) is getting a bit old and weary. I have kept it much longer than expected because it can take very long loads safely on the roof (timber mouldings up to 4.5m long).

I can space roof bars 1.6m apart on the existing rails. Can anybody advise on the estate car with longest possible distance between roof bars plus enough safe overhang to accommodate lengths of 4.5m?

I think the vehicle will need roof rails because, if bars are mounted on these, I can get them further apart than if I was using fixing points. Wieight is not an issue as I will be well within the limits.

I would be very grateful for any ideas. People don't seem to like me measuring their cars :~}

Thanks

My uncle runs a home renovation business and uses an old merc e class estate for just this purpose.

It might be worth looking at the vauxhalls - they look particularly boxy so might be good candidates.

Both good choices, Vectra estate is exceptionally long.

406 another possibility, latest Superb estate if you have a large budget.

One of the many pick ups already fitted with a hard top, previous Ranger Mitsi and Izusu now cheap.

Another C5 of the same model.
