Yaris 02 - Kerbed: play in steering - mikem004
My front right wheel hit the kerb as I was pulling away one morning.
Now the steering doesn't feel right. There seems to be more play in it.

If I release my hand pressure on the wheel, the wheel starts twitching about. Also feels like it wants to drift off line, and there is more vibration through the steering wheel.

There are no noises from the steering when turning, so it's not wheel bearings or anything like that.

Is it just a matter of getting the tracking/wheel alignment fixed? I guess Kwik-Fit or similar would do this?

That sounds like a buckled wheel to me. You may well have knocked your tracking out and bent some suspension component as well.

I'd recommend you get it checked out by someone who knows what they're doing, not a tyre place!

There is no obvious visual damage to the wheel or tyre. It's a conventional steel wheel.

Probably best to take it to a garage and get them to check the wheel alignment.

Agree with BT, you need a mechanic to look at this, not a tyre fitter.

If the wheel isn't damaged then something more expensive took the blow.
