Mitsubishi Shogun Sport 2.5TD Warrior 55 plate - External Thermometer on Compass - Xamper

Hi,

I've got my beast back after a front end prang and the external temperature sensor is flashing OE, obviously the S button just resets the compass. Any idea what this means and can I reset it or go back to the garage and get them to sort.

p.s I'm female, blonde and yes it was me that pranged it!!!

techno dinosaurs like me don't know what OE (Original Equipment?) and the S button mean. It hasn't been repaired properly so back to whoever hasn't done a 100% repair, I suggest

The instrument that you are describing is an electronic compass - I had the same vehicle and have answere this previously. According to the handbook the compass shows the position of the vehicle by the 16 azimuth system when the ignition is placed in the on position. That means that you have N,S,E,W, travel direction indication, each graduation = 22.5 degrees. Basically the compass rotates to show you the direction that your truck is going.

If the compass is not working correctly or needs resetting, it will probably start flashing and not read correctly. To reset it, press the adjustment button marked S to the lower right of the compass for 1 second. Now turn the vehicle around through 360 degrees (say in a quiet carpark or field etc). This should reset the compass and return it to normal operation.

Best Regards. Christo

The external temperature sensor is usually located away from the engine bay to avoid heat pick-up. Either behind the front bumper or in the external mirror casing. If either of these have been replaced due to the accident, I would suspect the sensor hasn't been replaced or left disconnected.
