VW Passat 1.9 TDI PD 2004(highline) 130bhp AWX - Grey smoke on acceleration - Juniors20

Hi,hope someone can help!

So few weeks ago i noticed that on startup there is a bit of blue/white smoke coming out of my exaust + Stinks(hard to explain whats that smell like)! After first acceleration no more smoke!

Now things are getting a bit worse.... now every time i accelerate loads and loads grey/like dust smoke coming out of my exaust...better to see is in dark when car is behind with lights on! There is no loss in power on any light on in dash...! i keep on checking my oil/coolant levels and they don't move at all! And once i was driving my car for about 9h non stop then there was no smoke at all!

Oil and filters i change regulary....

So just curious...what could it be!

Thanks for Help!!!!

How long have you had the car? The PD130 motor can and does give some sooty smoke from time to time, and it's often noticeable in car headlights at night. This was the case with my 2003 Passat PD130.

The cold weather doesn't help either, as the PD motor can take a good 10 miles to warm up fully.

Is the engine temperature gauge working normally? I wonder if the coolant temp sensor is on its way out, which would make the motor think it's stone cold and cause overfuelling. As far as I know, the same sensor 'drives' the engine temp gauge and feeds the ECU with data.

I got that car for about a year....the temp gauge usually takes up to 10 min to go to 90 c!

I'd just keep an eye on the oil and coolant levels, as you have been doing - if they continue to hold steady, don't worry about it!
