What are the main differences for the TSI 1.2 (85) S versions?

Struggling to see any difference?

Which is the one to go for?

Seat generally better components than Skoda?

Have looked at them both, don't like the black interior on the skoda, seems worse equipped than the cruze, but getting very tempted by another cruze as dealers (look on auto-trade.r,,) have some from £9000 as ex demo or pre-reg, Lookers chester have a 1.6 LS estate for a tenner less than £9000 with 10 miles on the clock,

Cannot see any difference between toledo or rapid except price and dealers, and here in west wales do not have a dealer close by.

Have worked it out

Both cars in 1.2 TSI 85 form S trim, the Toledo has a fair bit more kit but is availabe at a very similar price.

Seat tend to be more sporty, but with a 1.2 it doesn't mean much, however expect a potentially harsher ride with a Seat, check wheel and tyre combinations.

Skoda dealers have a good reputation. In my area I wouldn't go Seat as the only dealer isn't in an area handy for me. It is also part of a very large dealer group I would never buy from.

We have the same problem.

Im buying one of these for my good friend who needs a car and wants this car (rapid/toledo) as it ticks all of his boxes.

As you know they are both identical except the badge and the Seat spec is slighly higher.

The pre reg prices are the same.

While the Toledo makes more sense as it has more kit, the Seat dealer has a mixed reputation where as the Skoda dealer is a family run dealership with a fantastic reputation.

Got to decide by early Jan, but its looking like the Skoda because of the dealership.

I had a Rapid as a loan car recently. Roomy and economical, I'm sure, (it happened to be a diesel).... but what struck me was the horrible booming noise it produced at very moderate road speeds. Not engine noise but some sort of drumming/booming that my ear drums didn't appreciate.

I didn't know that Octavias had a reputation for road noise (or so it would seem looking at the recent thread/s on here) but I can see what they mean if the Rapid was anything to go by. I was genuinely pleased to get the Yeti back (and some say that THEY are noisier than others!!).

When we collected our Leon there was a Toledo parked next to the salesmans desk. Huge boot but the rest of the car was no bigger than the new Leon. But having looked round it there are many signs that it is based on older models and is just a gap filler.

Probably nothing worng with either but not for me.

My father in law took a test drive in a new Rapid and also mentioned about the booming noise around 40-50mph. Any others noticed this. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Nah! Best new skoda deal now isTsi 84 SE connect @12990

SEAT Toledos are heavily discounted since Oct 13. I got a brand new 14 plate Tsi 105 SE Nav @ 13100 including 6speed, start-stop, 17s, Climatronic and privacy glass. The skoda quoted has none of that so for me it's no contest, and I prefer theSEAT looks.

BTW no 40 to 50 rumbling noise at all on brand new Contis fitted to mine.

its no leon sure but it costs a lot less.

maybe, but the pre reg ones were older spec and lacking some of the kit - added to which many of the ones advertised as 0 miles were actually dealer demo/courtesy cars.

The main thing is I was happy with the brand new deal and got the exact colour, rims, spec I wanted.

According to a Skoda salesman the Octavia is stealing sales from the 'Slow' because the residuals are much better. Sounds like spin to me. The 'Slow' doesn't sell for obvious reasons.

Almost. The Mladá Boleslav factory is in the Czech Republic. Czechoslovakia ceased to exist in 1993.

The local major taxi firm seems to be a wash with rapid's and astre estates.

Isn't the Rapid/Toledo more generous in terms of interior and boot space than the original Octavia?

There was a new Toledo next to the salesman desk when we collected our Leon last year. Had a quick look whilst we were waiting around and a few things were blindingly obvious.

It had a huge boot

Rear leg room was quite poor

Interior fittings had obviously been stolen from other Seats/Skodas

Other than the new bodyshape everything was basically a re hash of other older cars. You could say it fills a gap in the Skoda range between the bigger Octavia and smaller Fabia but in the Seat range the Leon does everything the Toledo does but far better (except for boot space) and has a much nicer internal environment.

Not a car for me even at the apparantly tempting prices.

I have been in the back of a few rapid taxi's and found the leg room to be good, certainly a lot better than the latest ford focus.

How did ford get the focus interior so wrong?

No rear legroom, not a great deal of driver leg room, not a lot of front passenger legroom which makes opening the glovebox impossible.

And to top it off, a tiny boot which must be the smallest in its segment.
