peugeot 406 - clutch master cylinder - misternick

I am trying to get Clutch Master Cylinder out of 406 diesel estate. I have never seen anything so difficult in 40 yrs. I have disconnected the tubes, made the tool and unscrewed 45deg (not 90 like Haynes say). It is looser but still not coming seems jammed at the South West/bottom left viewed from front. Do you remove servo, brake m/cyl and actuating rod? The plastic rod extension inside the footwell broke. I wonder if I get this fixed there may be a fault inside the bellhousing, which caused the mechanism to brake when I tried to push down against BIG resistance

Got it out now thanks but really nasty job. Turned it round 360deg before finding disconnection point. Back in spasm didn't help. Serious point - it's more economical to scrap and buy a replacement car (Vreg) than have clutch replaced commercially. No wonder our climate is up the spout. Greenpeace should award us a medal.

Well, yes, but you aren't obliged to take that route. If the car is otherwise OK the repair may be the worth doing. It's only money, and we can easily print more of that without damaging the environment ....
