Have you had the car plugged into a diagnostic computer or just trawled the net looking for possibly un connected faults that others have ?
The spanner through the car light on Vauxhall's is an emissions related fault so the only way to give some indication is to get it diagnosed first, then take it from there. Black smoke with diesel engines usually denotes there's either too much fuel being injected or not enough air getting through. There are many causes for both of these conditions so trying to pin point what is causing the fault without proper diagnosis is a waste of time and money.
I don't think removal of the DPF will make any difference in your case, plus it is illegal to remove any emission control equipment that is fitted as standard. I bet these so called "expert" DPF removal companies don't mention that in their adverts ?
