Hyundai i20 1200 Comfort 1200 Petrol - Excessive Engine Revs Whilst Parking ! - spannermit

Have been having problems with engine revving when disengaging clutch whilst parking manouvers.( from normal idle revs approx, to 1500/2000 rpm!!! This rises to and reduces whilst clutch operation only ). High revs (2000 RPM) in colder weather. The vehicle has been into Hyundai SIX times and two main dealers , unable to effect a satisfactory outcome. As this will drastically reduce clutch life and fuel economy.Throttle position sensors and housing have replaced and reset. To little effect. Normal driving ok. Possible ECU programming/Glitch or software problem ????? It has only covered 7K miles !

This is pretty normal on some cars nowadays, supposed to help prevent stalls etc whilst manouvering. Our old Micra was very similar.

As for clutch wear and fuel consumption stop worrying, you spent a minute amount of your time parking so in the big scheme of things it will make no difference.
