Ford Fiesta - Fiesta won't start - possible computer fault. - albeck

Hi,

My Fiesta 1.25 Style 2008 has broken down. It was ok this morning but after work it wouldn't start.

The immobiliser light flashes rapidly.
There was an amber light with an exclaimation mark accompanied by a tapping sound near the glove box (both have disappeared now).
The breakdown guy found the following fault: P060C "internal control module main processor performance", which from net searches appears to be generic.

I'm not sure if it's the ecu or what to try next?

Any help appreciated.

Hi albeck, some of these later Fords are having problems with the instrument clusters, this also relates to immobiliser faults as the immobiliser passes through the cluster. If the red light flashes rapidly there is definitely an immobiliser related issue. Be careful not to condemn the engine ECU as P060C is a fault code for the Engine Control Unit which Fords term as a PCM Powertrain Control Module. This fault code could be misleading and be nothing to do with the problem you have. It definitely needs further investigation into what the actual fault is! Unfortunately there is no quick fix with some of these systems. Kind Regards Kev
